The scores obtained from gaming websites are saying yes, Bioshock Infinite is probably the best game ever.
Except the haters from Metacritic that gave 0/10 scores, everyone pretty much love the game, including me.
Here is what I disliked and what I liked about this game.
What I disliked:
– The shooting gameplay. It was a bit odd, very hard near the end of the game. I played the game on medium even though I’m a bit rusty when it comes to first person shooters.
Too often I had no ammunition. Some enemies required different guns but since our character can carry only two, I had to kill them with what I had at that moment.
– That sometimes I needed more relaxing moments and not “action moments” when you have to clear the room of enemies.
– Some graphic elements looked weird, like leafs, flowers, some rooms where you could see the ceiling even though they should have been very artistic.
That’s pretty much it for what I disliked.
What I liked about Bioshock Infinite
– That you step into the unknown, you experience a story that you never seen in any movie or other video games, maybe books too. This game has an exquisite style that comes from the level design, characters, mystery, music, all.
– How the game looks, it’s amazing. The sky city and some rooms are mindblown. I don’t care about polygons and technical aspects.
– The subtle things throughout the game, YOLO (you only live once), that I’ve found a room that had no texture, I thought that it was the way of the developers to say that nothing is perfect, not even Bioshock Infinite.
That a certain ability allows you to dodge bullets and the animation when you drink the potion looks like after Neo (Matrix) has taken the red pill and is in that chair in front of the mirror.
– I liked that the game didn’t get boring at any point, the action was always there and it didn’t became repetitive.
– You can jump on those lines, making this game different than the old school first person shooters.
– The ending that is mindblown, you need some minutes to recover from what you experience.
These are just subjective opinions. This game goes into my list of favorite games along Max Payne, Mafia and some Final Fantasy games.
