Razer Orbweaver discontinued?

It seems that Razer Orbweaver has been discontinued.

The gaming gamepad cannot be found for sale on the official razerzone.com website, and neither as new product on online retailers.
However, it can be still found on ebay, used or new in some cases even though the “new” ones might be fake.

For a bit of history, Razer has launched Orbweaver 9 years ago, as the new keypad that is trying to replace the old Razer Nostromo.

At that time, Nostromo was quite an impressive device, during the time when World of Warcraft was popular and the gamepad was promoted by the well know youtuber called Swifty.

Even though Orbweaver was superior to Nostromo, the old keypad was still available for sale at the time, in paralel to the Orbweaver.

We can include Nostromo in the “Essential” category and Orbweaver into the “Expert” category.

What Orbweaver brought new?

– 20 mechanical buttons instead of 14 buttons that the Nostromo has. The buttons are using Cherry mx blue switches.
A huge improvement with the mechanical keys. At that time, Razer was starting to put mechanical keys on all their products, the MMO mouses, Razer Naga, Naga Hex, and also coming up with the new Razer Blackwidow keyboards, one of their first keyboards of this type.

– compatible with the old Razer Synapse 2.0 that still can be used even in 2021, along with Razer Synapse 3.0.

– adjustable hand, thumb and palm-rest. The palm-rest can be adjusted in the same way as Razer Ouroboros while the material texture is from the Razer Deathstalker’s palm-rest.
At that time, Razer was using some of the softest and most comfortable plastic materials.

– green lightning, which was becoming a standard for Razer, before Chroma.
They were using mostly blue lightning on their old devices, then they switched to green.

The keypad was available on Razerzone.com for 130$, the release price, shipping not included. The price was twice the amount as for Razer Nostromo but the advantages were superior, especially that the new keypad had mechanical buttons and is Synapse 2.0 compatible.

Sadly, Razer Orbweaver became discontinued probably because of lack of interest from customers.
