Here is all you need to know about the WoW pet intervene macro, one of the most fun thing that ever existed in this game.
Crabs have two abilities, “Pin” and “Intervene”.
Both abilities are very useful in pvp encounters.
“Pin” lasts 4 seconds (it has a 40 seconds cooldown), it will stuck the enemy in place.
“Intervene” has a 10 seconds cooldown.
“Intervene” is an ability that when casted on you or a friendly target, it will intercept one attack, an attack that can crit and get at least 20k hp off you.
Since monkeys are going to get nerfed in the next patch, the “Stun” ability becomes really a blind and it breaks on damage, players already said spiders or crabs could be the next optimal pets for hunters in PVP.

/cast [target=your character name] Intervene
Assign this macro to an easy to press key.
“Intervene” can be used if the pet has some range from you.
First, send it in attack, then use “Intervene”.
Or use the “move pet” ability when preparing to gank another enemy player.
If you let “Intervene” on “autocast” most of the time, it won’t do anything, and is a wasted ability.
This ability can save you from many enemy starting attacks, charges, stuns etc.
Spider’s web lasts 5 seconds, “Roar of recovery” is pretty outdated and useless.
Crabs have two good abilities and they could do good even in arena, mostly in 2v2.
Why is “Intervene” so fun?
That is because of the animation, it is fun to see your pet charging towards you and then intercepting the enemy attack.
Mostly the animation and the sound of the ability are top notch, one of the most fun abilities from the game.
Sadly, this ability got removed in the later WoW expansions.
