What got changed for BM spec in Cataclysm?
There is no big difference from what we had at the end of “Wrath of the Lich King” in terms of PVP as beastmasters.
You can still just use “Arcane Shot” and “Kill command”, and only those.
However, without good gear, this spec is useless since other classes got improved quite a bit since the last expansion.
With some fancy gear, BM is very powerful, it has higher burst than “Marksman” or “Survival”, but lower damage in a longer fight, better mobility tough.
What talent build to use?
Here is the picture with what talent build you should use.
Some players are using “Survival” talents instead of the ones from “Marksman“, but they will lose damage from the pet with the focus regen.
Most of serious arena players are using this talent build.
“Focus Fire” is pretty useless.

The stats you should aim are “Agility”, “Mastery”, “Crit”, “Haste”.
Haste doesn’t scale at this time, the pet won’t receive any important attack speed boost from your high haste, he also is not receiving crit chance, but is getting damage from mastery.
You should aim for “Agility” obviously, and after, stack “mastery” and “crit”, keeping a balance between them.
Try to get the “Tol Barad” trinket, “Unsolvable Riddle” (combined with “Bestial Wrath” and all the cooldowns, they will increase the burst quite a lot).
PvP rotation and shot priority?
Start with “Serpent Sting”, “kill command”, “Arcane shot”, spam “Cobra shot” to regenerate the focus and keep an eye on the “Kill command” cooldown, and use it every time it is out of cooldown.
It does the most damage.
Don’t bother with “Steady Shot”, you get no benefits as beastmaster.
“Cobra shot” does more damage.
Use “Tranq shot” on shielded players to dispel their shield (with luck) as it will cancel one buff, could be the shield or something else.
Use “Bestial Wrath” and all the cooldowns as soon they are ready.
Also using “Bestial Wrath” is good when you have enough focus to sustain a good burst. Also to cancel a cc, snare.

The best pets for Beastmaster hunters in WoW Cataclysm?
Here is a list of what you should use:
Spirit Beasts – they have the healing ability and the agility buff
Core Hounds – Ancient Hysteria (works like heroism) and reduces the casting speed on the enemy
Devilsaur – -10% healing debuff for the enemy, good vs healer + dps; or in a high burst combo with enhancement shamans.
Try to get a spirit beast for battlegrounds.
The spectral bear from “Grizzly Hills” is the easiest to get as it has only one spawning point.
What glyphs to use, enchants and gems?
For glyphs this is the optimal choice, see the picture.
Here are the glyphs:
– “Kill shot” (to be able to shot twice when KS is active)
– “Arcane Shot” (will increase arcane shots damage)
– “Glyph of Kill command” (reducing focus for KC)
– some players are using the “Rapid Fire glyph instead of KC. It depends, in arena, in 2v2, for a burst cleave, “Rapid fire” can be better.
– “Bestial Wrath”
– “Disengage”
– “Raptor Strike” (very useful if you can hit with “Raptor Strike”, it will reduce your damage taken by 20% for 5 seconds)
– or “glyph of Master’s Call” instead of “Raptor Strike”. However “Raptor Strike” is the optimal choice.
Enchants
For enchants, go for basic stats, get the high-end enchants for your epic set.
For gems, +40 agility for red ones, +20 agility +20 crit for yellow, ignore the blue ones if they give 10agi and go for +40 agility.
Keep one for the meta gem who should be “54 mastery” and “minor running speed increase” or the crit + crit % bonus if you are going for blue spell penetration.
For world pvp or battlegrounds you won’t need spell penetration.
