I recently got this login error in League of Legends: invalid username password combination.
If you get this error when trying to login into your League of Legends (LoL) account, you can check one important thing.
That thing is the region.
When you create a LoL account, you can choose a region.
For example, you can choose: “EU West”, “EU Nordic & East”, “North America” etc.
The same is for the game client.
There is a client for each region.
In case that you have created an account on the “EU Nordic & East” region, make sure to download and install the game client for “EU Nordic & East”.
If you don’t know what region client you got (already installed), start League of Legends and you will see the region displayed on the left – bottom side (below Ryze).
If you have created an account on a different region than your LoL client, just create another account on the same region as your current game client.
This is because it takes a long time to download and install League of Legends.
If the regions for the account and the game client don’t match, you get that error: “invalid username / password combination, please try again.”.
After following these steps and matching the region and the game client, I was able to play League of Legends just fine.
