In order to transfer a domain from Godaddy to name.com, follow these steps.
Log into your Godaddy account.
Go to My domains.
Check the domain that you want to transfer. By checking, I mean click on the checkbox associated with that domain.
With the domain selected, click on “Lock” and turn the option to “off” (so it will be unlocked).
Now click the domain. A new page with the domain’s details will open. The bottom option, “Authorization code”. Click on “e-mail my code”.
Close Godaddy.com, it won’t be needed anymore for now.
From the bottom of the page, see the “Transfer domains” link. Click on it.
Enter the name of your domain that you want to transfer, and the authorization code (you have received it in your e-mail box).
Next, disable the protection option so you won’t be extra charged.
Enter your credit card information and click on “Complete Order”.
The transfer won’t take place right away.
After around 5 minutes, you should receive an e-mail from name.com. Click the link in it in order to approve the transfer.
After around 1-2 minutes, you will receive an e-mail from Godaddy. Click the link in it in order to transfer the domain right away. If you don’t click the link, the domain will transfer in about five days, by itself.
Once on Godaddy, click on “Domains”. You should see the “Transfers” tab. Click it. Launch and accept.
That is all. The transfer will take place in about 15 minutes. You will receive an e-mail from Godaddy, confirming that the transfer was completed.
You don’t need to edit any DNS settings from name.com, the DNS settings will transfer by themselves.
