This error is caused by your auto-login process into your Google account.
What you need to do is to delete your saved Google login details.
That circle from the right side of your e-mail address should be turned green.
Make sure that you have “background data” and “auto-sync” enabled.
Keep trying even if you have to restart your phone for a few times.
The last resort is to try to replace the sim card (if you are using a smartphone).
