Final Fantasy 7 remake not starting?

What to do if the Final Fantasy 7 remake is not starting?

Final Fantasy 7 Enhanced edition for PC should run without issues on any Windows operating system, XP, Vista, 7 or 10, regardless of the version, 32 or 64 bit.

There is only one issue that might appear if you decide not to install the “DirectX” that is asked when the installation process of the game is finished.

If you try to start the game, you will even see the Windows error, “D3dx9_43.dll is missing from your computer”.

However, you will still be able to start the launcher, press the “Play” button.

But in this case, the Final Fantasy 7 launcher will keep appearing instead of the game being launched.

How to fix the Final Fantasy 7 remake not starting issue?

To fix this issue, you have to install a DirectX pack, even if you have at least Windows 7, which in theory should be enough for the game to start without issues.

Download the DirectX pack from here, it usually takes around 15 minutes to download and install it.

It will look like it is stuck near the end of the progress bar but it will finish after a while.

Once you have installed this pack, start the Final Fantasy VII launcher and click on “Play”.

You should now be able to enjoy the game.

Another issue that could happen is related to the resolution.

If you set the game to run on a laptop, usually it is 1366 x 768 for a 15 inches screen, you can modify from settings, uncheck “keep aspect ratio”.

The game might look weird.

On bigger screens, this won’t be an issue as the game will look fine, even with the black borders.

Square Enix has managed to remaster this game quite well.
