This error can appear when you try to install Adobe Reader on Windows XP (no matter the service pack version).
There isn’t any real solution to this issue but what you can do is to try to install an older version of Adobe Reader since they pretty much do the same thing, allows you to open and manage .pdf files.
You can find here all the older versions of Adobe Reader.
Download the 9.5 version of the software, it should work (you won’t get the mentioned error from the title).
If you really need to open a .pdf file, really urgent, we recommend you to use Google Docs, import the file and you will be able to view it in your browser.
