WoW Classic is a waste of time?

WoW Classic is a waste of time?

Blizzard was a great company at some points, today they just produce RNG games like Overwatch, Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm. And two other games that nobody plays anymore, Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2.
All games are fading away, the playerbase is getting smaller day after day.

In an attempt to get more money, improve their image in the eyes of the old fans, Blizzard is bringing up World of Warcraft Classic, probably their most famous game with the biggest playerbase at some point in Wrath of the Lich King.

However, the expectations are going to be crashed by the fact that the game is just not good enough, a failure.

1. No reason to do PVE, raid 4 nights a week.
There are are a few dungeons, some raids. The gear will be scarce, running 3-4 hours a dungeon and getting no loot will be totally unrewarding.
Raiding will be time consuming and the reward will not be there.
In the old days, people used to raid, get better gear at all cost just to show others their devotion to the game and skill. Things have changed now, we have seen that playing the game for so many years meant nothing, everyone can get gear, that little World of Warcraft bubble is just fake.

2. No reason to do PVP.
You can’t really kill 2 players at once because you have no resources. Unless they barely know how to play.
PVP in classic is rock paper scissors. Even when you kill a player, most of the time it will feel unrewarding because what mattered were the classes and not the skill in any way. It’s repetitive, it’s boring.

As a hunter for example, you will be left in the middle of the fight with no mana. As a mage, if a hunter uses mana sting on you, in the middle of the fight you will run out of mana. Good luck chasing the hunter with the stick.
You can get better gear with more intellect, but that will not be easy, and certainly, not rewarding.
Since there are no achievements, nothing is getting tracked. You can stay in one spot and gank grays or 60s, but it won’t matter. You won’t get any titles, any gear or any fun items, toys, mounts etc.
Unless you play non stop for the ranking system, which was totally unrewarding.

3. No achievements.
Some people will argue a lot here.
Achievements have been introduced in Wrath of the Lich King. At first everyone blamed them, but soon they realized that they are fun.
If you have nothing to do, nothing to waste your time on, you can try some weird challenges. And get that nice achievement unlocked ding sound.
Everyone could see your achievement list on the Wow website. But since then, the website was redesigned and now it looks awful. Probably nobody goes there anymore.
If you do battlegrounds and you like to get a final reward for your effort, you won’t be able to. People usually need a purpose to do something.

You can stay in Stranglethorn Valley and hunt other 60s or gray, but at the end of the day, it will feel like it was for nothing and you’re really wasting your time while you could do something else.

4. Leveling is terrible.
The quests are pretty bad, the old MMORPG quest types. Kill x amount of monsters and gather x amount of pickable items.
You will have to always logout inside a safe area, inn or city to get rested and get the blue bar. More XP after. You will most likely have to grind mobs because of lack of quests.
Overall it will seem like a bad experience but it will certainly feel more rewarding than the end game which is even worse.
Getting to 60 is pretty much game over.

5. No dynamic events like in modern WoW.
A lot of events have been introduced in World of Warcraft during the years, the remake of the Darkmoon Faire for example which was a total joke until the remake.
From such events, you could have received toys, gear. Events like these had achievements, so more time to waste on the game while having fun.
There are no such things in Vanilla, Classic.
There are some events, the classic ones but they lack gear, fun items or quests.

6. Classes lack certain core abilities.
Hunters don’t have the normal disengage that throws you back. There is a spell called Disengage but it is to reduce threat. Doesn’t do anything. Can you even imagine that. You can’t even lay traps while in combat.
Players always had to adapt from expansion to expansion, sometimes the changes were game changing, you had to relearn your class. But lacking certain abilities will seem awful. I don’t know about other classes but I’m sure there are core abilities missing from their arsenal. It will feel incomplete. And some of those are pretty much the most fun abilities and spells.

7. No prospect of future content.

Even though getting trough all the PVE progression will take a long time, people will get bored eventually, unmotivated by the fact that the game will stay the same, will not improve.
The playerbase will diminish as time goes on. There will probably be some full high populated servers, but even those will fade at some point.
Currently the highest populated private server (Northdale – Light’s Hope) had 12-15k players at launch, after around 2 months, there are constantly just around 5-6k players.

The conclusion is that Classic was not the best WoW expansion if we can count it as an expansion. Probably end Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King was. And moving on, until the mid Mists of Pandaria.
The game was enjoyable, there were things to do, fun powerful abilities added every expansion.
But there was a point where the immersion got broken, everything started to fade away. The introduction of virtual ticket, black market auction house, merging servers which destroyed the sense of community, garrisons and overhauling every class.
Players abandoning the game.

Sadly, World of Warcraft Classic will be a failure that will get abandoned soon when players will realize that it’s too old, too outdated by today’s standards.
It’s like trying to play a game from 2000 that won’t run on Windows 10, or modern computers.
